Oxbridge
The Universities of Oxford and Cambridge are often jointly referred to as 'Oxbridge', and share many similarities. The ancient universities are two of the most famous in the world, attracting leading academics from all around the globe.
The two also have a long history of rivalry, invariably competing for first place in the UK's university league tables, and both have an intensely competitive admissions procedure.
Gaining places at Oxbridge is a priority for many private and selective state schools, with over half of applications coming from the state sector.
